かわいい・かっこいい・おもしろい・たのしい

You'll learn four light compliment and vibe words: cute, cool, interesting, and fun.

The words

How they differ

い-adjectives — same family as おいしい / たかい. Produce polite です wraps for now:

「その バッグ、かわいい です」(sono baggu, kawaii desu)

「その ふく、かっこいい です」(sono fuku, kakkoii desu)

「その はなし、おもしろい です」(sono hanashi, omoshiroi desu)

「きょう は たのしい です」(kyou wa tanoshii desu)

Tasteful use: compliment things, outfits, events, stories, vibes. Keep it friendly and app-appropriate — playful, not intense.

Reply soft: 「ありがとう ございます。」/「そう ですか?」/「うれしい です。」 Bare casual (かっこいい ね / たのしい!) = peer later / Wave F — see more-examples.

Four sparkles: cute · cool · interesting · fun. かわいい = soft sparkle, かっこいい = sharp sparkle, おもしろい = mind sparkle, たのしい = heart sparkle.

Watch out

かわいい ≈ cute / かっこいい ≈ cool — different compliment flavors おもしろい = interesting or funny — context picks the English たのしい = the experience is fun / すき = you like something (Lesson 18)
