Miguel Is Lost
An American gets lost in Mexico City on his way to meet his girlfriend's family for lunch.

Today he is visiting Mexico City.
Va a conocer a la familia

Van a comer en un restaurante.
They are going to eat at a restaurant.
Pero Miguel tiene un problema.
But Miguel has a problem.
Su teléfono está muerto.
His phone is dead.
Ahora Miguel está perdido.
Now Miguel is lost.
El barrio está muy ocupado.
The neighborhood is very busy.
Hay mucha gente en la calle.
There are many people in the street.
Miguel ve a una señora.
Miguel sees an older woman.
Ella vende flores.
She sells flowers.
«Disculpe, señora», dice Miguel.
"Excuse me, ma'am," says Miguel.
«¿Dónde está el restaurante?»
"Where is the restaurant?"
La señora no habla inglés.
The woman doesn't speak English.
«No entiendo bien», dice Miguel.
"I don't understand well," says Miguel.
«Más despacio, por favor.»
"More slowly, please."
La señora es muy paciente.
The woman is very patient.
Ella usa las manos.
She uses her hands.
«Todo derecho», dice ella.
"Straight ahead," she says.
«Cerca de la iglesia.»
"Near the church."
«Muchas gracias, señora.»
"Thank you very much, ma'am."
Miguel camina por la calle.
Miguel walks down the street.
Ve a un joven en la parada.
He sees a young man at the bus stop.
«¿Cómo llego al restaurante?»
"How do I get to the restaurant?"
«A la izquierda», dice el joven.
"To the left," says the young man.
«Cerca del parque.»
"Near the park."
Pero el joven se equivoca.
But the young man is wrong.
Miguel camina a la izquierda.
Miguel walks to the left.
Pasa una farmacia y un parque.
He passes a pharmacy and a park.
Pero no ve el restaurante.
But he doesn't see the restaurant.
«Ay, estoy muy perdido.»
"Oh, I'm so lost."
Miguel ve a una niña
Miguel sees a little girl
con su mamá.
with her mother.
«Disculpe, ¿dónde está la esquina
"Excuse me, where is the corner
con el restaurante?», pregunta.
with the restaurant?" he asks.
La niña habla un poco de inglés.
The girl speaks a little English.
«¡Yo te llevo!», dice feliz.
"I'll take you!" she says happily.
Caminan dos cuadras juntos.
They walk two blocks together.
«¡Aquí está!», dice la niña.
"Here it is!" says the girl.
«¡Muchísimas gracias!», dice Miguel.
"Thank you so much!" says Miguel.
Miguel llega tarde y sudado.
Miguel arrives late and sweaty.
Está muy avergonzado.
He is very embarrassed.
«Lo siento, mi teléfono murió.»
"I'm sorry, my phone died."
Pero la familia se ríe con cariño.
But the family laughs warmly.
El papá sonríe.
The dad smiles.
«¡Bienvenido a México!», dice.
"Welcome to Mexico!" he says.
Y pide una cerveza fría.
And he orders a cold beer.
Miguel siente mucho alivio.
Miguel feels great relief.
«Gracias. Qué familia tan amable.»
"Thank you. What a kind family."
