"What are you going to eat?" asks Tomás.
Sofía piensa un momento.
Sofía thinks for a moment.
"¡Paella! Carmen hace paella."
"Paella! Carmen is making paella."
Tomás sonríe contento.
Tomás smiles happily.
"La paella tiene mariscos."
"Paella has seafood."
"Le recomiendo un vino blanco."
"I recommend a white wine."
"No tinto, blanco," repite.
"Not red, white," he repeats.
Toma una botella del estante.
He takes a bottle from the shelf.
"No es caro, pero es muy bueno."
"It's not expensive, but it's very good."
"Es de mi pueblo," dice.
"It's from my hometown," he says.
"¿Cuánto cuesta?" pregunta Sofía.
"How much is it?" asks Sofía.
"Doce euros," responde Tomás.
"Twelve euros," answers Tomás.
Sofía paga y sonríe.
Sofía pays and smiles.
Tomás envuelve la botella con cuidado.
Tomás wraps the bottle carefully.
"Muchas gracias," dice Sofía.
"Thank you very much," says Sofía.
Ahora camina por la calle.
Now she walks down the street.
El sol se pone despacio.
The sun sets slowly.
En la esquina huele a comida.
On the corner it smells like food.
Hay familias en los balcones.
There are families on the balconies.
Sofía está un poco nerviosa otra vez.
Sofía is a little nervous again.
Hace meses que no ve a todos.
It's been months since she's seen everyone.
Y el novio de Carmen estará allí.
And Carmen's boyfriend will be there.
Llega y toca el timbre.
She arrives and rings the doorbell.
Carmen abre y le da un abrazo.
Carmen opens and gives her a hug.
"¡Pasa, pasa!" dice Carmen.
"Come in, come in!" says Carmen.
El apartamento está cálido y lleno de risas.
The apartment is warm and full of laughter.
Hay música y bebidas.
There is music and drinks.
"Este es Miguel," dice Carmen.
"This is Miguel," says Carmen.
Miguel le da la mano.
Miguel shakes her hand.
"Mucho gusto," dice él amablemente.
"Nice to meet you," he says kindly.
Sofía le da el vino a Carmen.
Sofía gives the wine to Carmen.
Carmen lee la etiqueta.
Carmen reads the label.
"¡Es perfecto para la paella!"
"It's perfect for the paella!"
Abren la botella enseguida.
They open the bottle right away.
"Gracias por venir," dice Carmen.
"Thank you for coming," says Carmen.
Todos levantan las copas.
Everyone raises their glasses.
"¡Salud! Por los viejos amigos."
"Cheers! To old friends."
"Por los nuevos amigos."
"To new friends."
"¡Y por esta noche!"
"And to tonight!"
Sofía sonríe. Ya no está nerviosa.
Sofía smiles. She's not nervous anymore.
Era la botella perfecta.
