The Final Boss
Two young brothers spend an entire night taking turns to defeat the final boss of their favorite RPG.
—¡Cuidado, te va a matar!
"Careful, it's going to kill you!"
gritó Diego a su hermano.
shouted Diego at his brother.
En la pantalla, el dragón rugía.
On the screen, the dragon roared.
Eran las once de la noche.
It was eleven at night.
Llevaban seis horas jugando.
They had been playing for six hours.
Mateo, el mayor, sujetaba el mando.
Mateo, the older one, held the controller.
Su héroe tenía poca vida.
His hero had little health.
—Tengo una poción curativa —dijo Mateo.
"I have a healing potion," said Mateo.
Pero ya era demasiado tarde.
But it was already too late.
El dragón lanzó una bola de fuego.
The dragon launched a fireball.
«HAS MUERTO», apareció en rojo.
"YOU HAVE DIED" appeared in red.
—Te toca a ti —suspiró Mateo.
"It's your turn," sighed Mateo.
Diego agarró el mando con decisión.
Diego grabbed the controller with determination.
—Yo tengo un plan diferente.
"I have a different plan."
Esquivó el fuego rodando.
He dodged the fire by rolling.
Atacó las patas del dragón.
He attacked the dragon's legs.
La bestia cayó de rodillas.
The beast fell to its knees.
—¡Funciona! ¡Sigue así! —animó Mateo.
"It's working! Keep it up!" encouraged Mateo.
Pero el dragón se levantó furioso.
But the dragon rose up furious.
De un golpe, derribó al héroe.
With one blow, it knocked down the hero.
—¡No otra vez! —gimió Diego.
"Not again!" groaned Diego.
Se turnaron una y otra vez.
They took turns again and again.
A las dos de la madrugada,
At two in the morning,
al dragón le quedaba un golpe.

—Hazlo tú —murmuró Diego, agotado.
"You do it," murmured Diego, exhausted.
—No. Lo hacemos juntos.
"No. We do it together."
Cada uno puso una mano en el mando.
Each one put a hand on the controller.
Presionaron el botón a la vez.
They pressed the button at the same time.
El dragón cayó con un rugido final.
The dragon fell with a final roar.
«VICTORIA», brilló en dorado.
"VICTORY" shone in gold.
Los dos hermanos se durmieron sonriendo,
The two brothers fell asleep smiling,
con el mando aún entre las manos.
