El café del gato
The Cat's Coffee Shop
A traveler's quiet morning walk turns into a small adventure to find a hidden coffee shop.
El sol brilla.
The sun is shining.
Salgo del hotel.
I leave the hotel.
La calle está tranquila.
The street is quiet.
Quiero un café.
I want a coffee.
Pero, ¿dónde está?
But where is it?
Una mujer camina cerca.
A woman walks nearby.
—¡Buenos días! —digo.
"Good morning!" I say.
—Buenos días —responde ella.
"Good morning," she replies.
—¿Dónde hay un café?
"Where is there a coffee shop?"
—Camina a la derecha.
"Walk to the right."
—Luego, a la izquierda.
"Then, to the left."
—Muchas gracias —digo.
"Thank you very much," I say.
Camino a la derecha.
I walk to the right.
Veo flores y árboles.
I see flowers and trees.
A la izquierda... ¡allí!
To the left... there it is!
Un gato duerme afuera.
A cat sleeps outside.
El café se llama "El Gato".
The coffee shop is called "The Cat".
Entro y sonrío.
I go in and smile.
—Hola, ¿qué desea? —pregunta.
"Hello, what would you like?" he asks.
—¿Qué hay para comer?
"What is there to eat?"
—Tenemos desayuno japonés.
"We have Japanese breakfast."
—¿Lleva pescado?
"Does it come with fish?"
—Sí, con arroz y huevo.
"Yes, with rice and egg."
—¡Perfecto! Quiero eso.
"Perfect! I want that."
—Y un capuchino, por favor.
"And a cappuccino, please."
El gato entra y maúlla.
The cat comes in and meows.
Se sienta a mi lado.
It sits beside me.
El café está caliente.
The coffee is hot.
La mañana es perfecta.
The morning is perfect.
