El café al final de la calle
The Coffee Shop at the End of the Street
A quiet morning walk from a hotel leads to a cozy café and a surprising menu discovery.
Son las siete de la mañana.
It is seven in the morning.
La ciudad todavía duerme.
The city is still sleeping.
Salgo del hotel sin prisa.
I leave the hotel without hurry.
El aire está fresco y limpio.
The air is fresh and clean.
Busco un café pequeño.
I am looking for a small coffee shop.
Una señora me saluda.
A lady greets me.
«¿Hay un café cerca?», pregunto.
"Is there a café nearby?" I ask.
«Sí, al final de la calle.»
"Yes, at the end of the street."
Camino despacio por la acera.
I walk slowly along the sidewalk.
Huelo pan recién hecho.
I smell freshly made bread.
Veo una puerta azul.
I see a blue door.
Es el café. ¡Por fin!
It is the café. Finally!
Entro y me siento.
I enter and sit down.
Un joven me da el menú.
A young man gives me the menu.
«Buenos días, ¿qué desea?»
"Good morning, what would you like?"
«¿Qué me recomienda?», pregunto.
"What do you recommend?" I ask.
«El capuchino es muy bueno.»
"The cappuccino is very good."
«¿Tienen algo para comer?»
"Do you have something to eat?"
«Hoy tenemos desayuno japonés.»
"Today we have Japanese breakfast."
«¡Qué sorpresa! ¿Qué lleva?»
"What a surprise! What does it include?"
«Arroz, pescado y sopa.»
"Rice, fish, and soup."
«Perfecto. Quiero eso, por favor.»
"Perfect. I want that, please."
«Y un capuchino también.»
"And a cappuccino too."
El joven sonríe y asiente.
The young man smiles and nods.
Espero junto a la ventana.
I wait by the window.
El sol entra despacio.
The sun comes in slowly.
Llega mi desayuno caliente.
My hot breakfast arrives.
Tokio y España, en una mesa.
Tokyo and Spain, on one table.
Sonrío. La mañana es perfecta.
I smile. The morning is perfect.
